OnePlus Unveils ‘OnePlus AI’: A New Horizon of Personalized AI

On May 28, OnePlus unveiled its new artificial intelligence platform called ‘OnePlus AI‘, designed to offer users a more personalized, efficient, and secure experience. Alongside this platform, a new customizable hardware button named ‘Plus Key’ was also introduced, which will first appear on the OnePlus 13s device.

This new vision was revealed at an event in Bengaluru, where it was announced that the OnePlus 13s will be the first device to feature the Plus Key and OnePlus AI branding.

‘All In On Life’ – The New Mission of OnePlus AI

Arthur Lan, Director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy at OnePlus, said, “The foundation of OnePlus AI is built on a deep understanding of our users, and they’ve told us that they want AI to help them work smarter, enjoy life to the fullest, and live on their own terms.” He further added, “That’s why the mission of OnePlus AI is – ‘All In On Life’ – to create personalized AI solutions tailored to users’ needs and preferences.”

As the successor to the renowned Alert Slider, the Plus Key is a versatile, programmable hardware button. Users will be able to assign it to various quick actions, such as switching sound profiles, launching the camera, or even activating AI features like translation and recording. At the core of this experience is AI Plus Mind, which allows users to easily save, organize, and retrieve on-screen information such as schedules or reservations. It analyzes information contextually and can even extract calendar events or categorize data.

The new OnePlus AI includes multiple features:

  • AI Voice Scribe: Records meetings or calls and generates summaries and translations directly within popular apps.
  • AI Call Assistant (for India): Offers automatic call summaries and real-time translation during calls on the OnePlus 13s.
  • AI Translation: Combines text, voice, camera, and screen translation into a single app, enabling seamless communication with the world.
  • AI Search: Allows users to search files, settings, notes, and calendars using natural language, making it easier and faster to find information.
  • AI Reframe: Analyzes photos and suggests new compositions, helping users present their images more creatively.
  • AI Best Face 2.0 (coming soon): Automatically fixes issues like closed eyes or poor expressions in group photos — even in photos not taken with a OnePlus device.

Partnership with Google Gemini

OnePlus has also announced that as they continue to enhance their OnePlus AI, they will deepen their partnership with Google Gemini. As a result, Gemini’s AI capabilities will be integrated into OxygenOS apps and Google’s own applications. Gemini Live will soon offer real-time conversations and context-aware assistance using the camera and screen sharing.

Additionally, advanced photo editing, smart search, and personal assistant features will make users’ daily tasks even easier.

How much secure is OnePlus AI?

According to OnePlus, this AI platform will not be limited to smartphones—it will also be integrated into their other devices in the future. The company has emphasized that user privacy and data protection are of the highest priority.

To balance the power of AI with security, OnePlus uses a hybrid processing approach. Sensitive data is processed on the device itself, while more complex tasks are handled through OnePlus’s Private Computing Cloud (PCC), where user data is fully protected through end-to-end encryption and a Trusted Execution Environment.

Conclusion

In the current era, a competition has begun among smartphone companies over AI features, and as a result, Google stands to benefit the most, since its AI features are now being integrated into nearly all smartphone brands. In other words, no matter which phone you use, the AI features are likely to be powered by Google. It’s a fact that even if the phone belongs to another brand, the Android system will still be Google’s. Additionally, Google Search will be present on every phone.

Although Google’s AI services are currently free, by 2026, you may have to pay separately for AI features on smartphones.
