NVIDIA Partners with Andhra Pradesh to Build India’s First AI University

Tech giant  NVIDIA commits to training 10,000 students and supporting 500 startups in landmark education deal

California-based technology company NVIDIA has joined hands with the Andhra Pradesh government to create something unprecedented in India – a dedicated Artificial Intelligence university. The groundbreaking partnership was officially sealed with a Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 6.

The ambitious project traces back to a meeting between Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh and NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang in Mumbai last October. What started as discussions has now transformed into a concrete plan to revolutionize AI education in the state.

What the Partnership Offers?

According to Times of India, NVIDIA will bring its cutting-edge technology to Andhra Pradesh, including the latest AI tools, software, and hardware. The company plans to equip the new university with state-of-the-art facilities that match global standards.

Under the agreement, NVIDIA will equip the university with the latest AI hardware (powerful processors and graphics cards), software (specialized AI frameworks), and development tools. These resources will give students and researchers hands-on experience with real-world AI technologies.

But the partnership goes beyond just building a university. NVIDIA has committed to training 10,000 engineering students over the next two years, giving them hands-on experience with advanced AI technologies. Additionally, 500 local AI startups will get access to NVIDIA’s Inception Programme, which provides technical tools and specialized training for AI developers.

Aim For Building Future’s Workforce

This partnership with NVIDIA is a decisive step in our vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in AI,” said Minister Nara Lokesh. “By training 10,000 students with cutting-edge AI skills and supporting startups, we are building the foundation for a future economy driven by innovation, entrepreneurship and research.”

The initiative also includes upgrading AI education across existing engineering colleges in the state. NVIDIA will provide curriculum guidance and training resources to ensure students throughout Andhra Pradesh benefit from world-class AI education.

Is it A Game-Changer for India’s Tech Landscape?

NVIDIA’s Managing Director for South Asia, Vishal Dhupar, emphasized the company’s commitment to making AI education accessible. “We are proud to work with the Andhra Pradesh government to create a strong AI ecosystem,” he said. Then he also added, “This initiative reflects our commitment to democratizing access to AI education, accelerating research, and enabling startups to innovate at scale.”

This partnership represents a significant step forward for India’s technology sector, potentially positioning Andhra Pradesh as a major AI hub and creating thousands of skilled professionals ready for the future job market.

The collaboration comes at a time when AI is transforming industries worldwide, making skilled professionals in this field increasingly valuable. With this university, Andhra Pradesh aims to become a breeding ground for AI talent that can compete on the global stage.  Andhra Pradesh expects to cultivate a strong AI ecosystem—boosting job opportunities, research output, and technological entrepreneurship in the region.
